Cumann na mBunscol GAA skills :
Congratulations to three of our U12 girls who qualified for the finals this week in Ballinakill. Emma Nesbitt (Scoil Chualann) and April Harty (Gaescoil na Cloch Liath) qualified for the camogie skills final, while Martha Lackey (Scoil Chualann) qualified for the football finals. All three girls performed very well on the day and we offer huge congratulations to Emma Nesbitt who went on to win the camogie final. Emma's prize is to play in Croke Park in a display match on the day of the Leinster final. Maith thú, a Emma!

Congratulations also to many of the U12 & U14 girls teams who helped Scoil Chualann, Bray win The Wicklow Times Division 1 final last week, the first time the school have won the competition since 1996. With 14 of the 15 players on the day Bray Emmets girls, their coaches should be proud too!

Match Reports

Bray Emmets Under 15’s vs Michael Dwyers (5th April 2017)

Bray Emmets Under 15 footballers second team played Michael Dwyers on Wednesday last in their first Wicklow League match of the new year. Following a long trek over the Wicklow mountains the team took a while to settle. After going behind to a couple of well worked scores by Michael Dwyers the teams’ resilience, fitness and skill shone through as the rest of the match unfolded. They fought hard throughout against a determined opposition to eventually run out winners by a 6:10 to 3:3 scoreline.

Squad on the night: Finn, Fiachra, Conor B, Jamie, Conor M, Cathal, Luan, John, Evan, Art, Quintin, Eoin, Tim, Fionn, Oscar, Daniel, Nathan and Adam.  Bainisteoir - Michael Roddy.

Dublin u-15 Hurling - Division 4. 6/04/2017

Naomh Fionnbarra 4-11,
Bray Emmets 8-10.

A 7pm throw-in in Cabra on Thursday night meant an hour in traffic from Bray, so firstly well done to all the parents/drivers who got the lads on the pitch in time for a warm up before the match.

A big, skilful and physical Naomh Fionnbarra side began with real intent on a tight pitch, but Sam rattled their net early to settle Bray and a humdinger of hurling match followed. Some early scores from frees brought Naomh Fionnbarra back on equal terms, but great work all over the pitch gave Bray the edge and scores followed. Rory struck two goals and Sam two more and a handful of points, while Ben took 3 great points from play. It was old style riveting hurling, with scorable frees, and some fine point taking from play keeping Naomh Fionnbarra in the tie. A rather fortunate goal right on half time added to the sense that this was a very tight game despite the 5-5 to 1-9 scoreline, and with Naomh Fionnbarra striking two goals early in the second half it seemed all to play for. All over the pitch Bray harried and chased and won ball they had no right to, none more so than Sam who put on a display of midfield play, adding three further goals and finishing with a very impressive personal tally on 6-07. Every player stood up and played their part in what was one of this squads best team performances. On every level this was a performance to be proud of, for the hurling skill, the work-rate and the team work, but especially for the way they conducted themselves under significant provocation. They were a credit to themselves, their families and the club.

Team: Fionn, Tadhg A, Aaron, Jack, Daniel F, Adam, Tadhg Mac, Zack, Sam (6-07), Rian, Ben (0-3), Cathal, Brian, Rory (2-0), Andrew, Luan, Daniel M, Conor. Unavailable, Eoin, Peter. Bainisteoir - Terry Mulcahy.

Wicklow Go Games blitz

The first Wicklow Go Games blitz of the season and there were eleven U10 teams in Ballinakill. We played against Blessington, Newtown & An Tochar and are very pleased to report that we had 3 good wins. Most pleasing of all was the improvements in our newest players. They have really started to settle into the team and Mia in particular played really well. Goal of the day went to Niamh.
