Wicklow U-14 Hurling League
Michael O ‘ Dwyers 3-20, Bray Emmets 3-03
The U-14 Hurlers were out again on Wednesday 11/05/2016 in the Wicklow league, facing Michael O Dwyer’s again for the second time in a fortnight. Emmets began with a focus and determination to salvage pride, and an epic battle followed.
Once again the backs to a man played brilliantly, harrying and blocking and hooking and completely unsettling their much fancied opponents. That effort was matched by midfield and the forwards and their efforts lead to Bray leading for stretches of the first half, but went into the break trailing by four points 2-2 to 2-6, having conceded two late scores. O’ Dwyer’s had a fine bench and they proceeded to use it very well as Emmets tired. They found space and gave an exhibition of fine point scoring.
Emmets responded with Rory taking his third goal and Brian his third point, but unfortunately it was not enough. The winning margin does little justice to a game that was enthralling to the end, with so many players producing their best performances of the season so far.

Lucan Sarsfields B 3-7, Bray Emmets 2-1
A disappointing day for the u-14 hurlers on a sunny Saturday afternoon in Lucan on 14/05 as they were second best to a lively and skilled Lucan side. Lucan settled early and created numerous scoring opportunities. Fantastic determined play by the backs with stand- out performances from Aaron, Adam, Tadhg and Daniel F, ably assisted by Zack and Daniel M and a very alert Ben in goal prevented Lucan scoring and Emmets lead much of the half on a single point scored from a free by Brian. Just before the break Lucan pointed and the sides exchanged goals, Jack’s speculative ball fooling the Lucan keeper and Lucan finally breaking the stranglehold at the other end. Level at half time it was all to play for in the second half, but unfortunately Lucan’s dominance continued and despite a goal from Rian from close in, Lucan found their range and they ran out comfortable winners at the end. Bray Emmets under eight girls had their first away blitz in sunny Avondale on Saturday. Playing two teams in the event. There were great performances against Eire Of, Kilcoole and a strong Glenealy team. Many thanks to the parents who travelled and Yvonne for arranging sweets, goodie bags and the weather! It was a great day and thanks to Avondale for their hospitality.

Versus Ashford, St Pats and Shankill
We had a blitz in Ashford in the morning and a match against Shankill in the afternoon. We sent one team to each venue and had three very good matches. In Ashford we played against 16 St. Pats players who subbed on a whole different team for the second half so our girls had to play against fast fresh legs. But no bother to them, they defended brilliantly and scored great points on the break. The second match against Ashford was even to start with but a couple of accidental knocks to two players meant we played with 6 ½ players and this was too much to ask to hold off a good team. Super sub Grace gave us a lift but was too late by then. The match against Shankill was very even and they have improved a lot since we last played them but we help on for a good win in the end.
