Competitors from Britain, Europe, Australia, Canada, and the United States will be among those flying into Bray for the 14th September event while in the National All-Ireland Kick Fada competition, kickers from all over Ireland will take part in the hope of succeeding last year’s winners Damien Sheridan (Longford) and Serena Hannon (Dublin). The Academy, which caters for 5-7 year olds boys and girls, will be starting back on Saturday, 7th September. Roll call at 10.15 with activities scheduled to start at 10.30 sharp. Emphasis is on fun, games and learning the basic skills of football and hurling. As a voluntary organisation, we are always looking for help and there are lots of ways to get involved - bringing in/out the equipment, setting up stations, taking the roll call, giving out name stickers, helping to put on bibs and helmets, helping the coach, looking after a station, etc. All help is welcome and appreciated. Ní neart go cur le chéile!
Also, please note that there will be a coaching mentoring session for all U-8, U-10 and U-12 coaches with Garett Doyle in the Clubhouse at 7.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 28th August.

The championship action for the Club continues this week with another three big games scheduled to take place. First up are the Minor Hurlers who resume their Group games with a home tie against St. Patrick’s at 7.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 28th August at Páirc Emmet Bhré. This is a great chance to see a team who have made a solid start to their campaign with two wins so we ask all members to pop down if they can. The Senior Hurlers will be pleased with the draw against Carnew as they are now very much in contention for a place in the knockout stages of the championship. Their last Group game sees them play in Pearse Park, Arklow at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday, 31st August where St. Patricks will also provide the opposition and all support is most welcome. Finally, the Junior B Footballers face a tough assignment when they travel to Carnew to play the home side at 12.30 p.m. on Sunday, 1st September. This is the final Group game for both sides with the winner progressing to the semi-finals so we hope that we will have a large travelling support to roar the lads on.
The Senior Hurlers faced Carnew in the Championship in Arklow on Sunday, 25th August in the second last group stage game. Eoin Mason opened the Emmets account with an early free however not much separated the teams in the first half. A new look full back line worked hard and defended well. Frees from Mason and two scores from play from full forward Brian Duggan made it five points apiece at the break.
Emmets started the second half with a score from Christy Moorehouse settling the team down. However, Carnew soon goaled and added on a few scores to create a worrying lead. Emmets remained calm and heads never dropped. Substitute Jim Doyle brought them right back into the game with a bullet of a shot to the Carnew goal. Mororehouse converted a fee and a score from play from Daire Lohan brought Emmets to within a point. As the time quickly ran out and with Carnew still ahead by a point Emmets sought a final score. With only a few seconds left centre back John Henderson gained possession. Fresh from his travels in the US, he blasted a high ball straight over the bar securing a draw. The last game in the group stages of the championship is next weekend against St Patrick’s Wicklow Town. All support is appreciated.
