Sheridan and Hannon take Kick Fada titles

Longford's Sheridan star man in Kick
This year's All Ireland Kick Fada competition proved to be
the most competitive in its 13 year history with Longford's Damien
Sheridan emerging victorious for the second time in three
years with a massive kick into the wind of 65 metres at Bray
emmet's last Saturday.
The Dromard netminder has to beat off a number of top class
intercounty kickers such as Joe Sheridan (Meath), Padraig Kelly
(Offaly) and Tony Hannon (Wicklow) as well as Paul Flood of Kildare
who finished runner up with last year's winner Shane Duffy
(Monaghan) in third position.
Although the prevailing conditions of a headwind into the
kickers didn't augur for long kicking, Sheridan made a very
creditable attempt to claim the record of 72 metres held by
Kildare's Mark herbert and wasn't too far away, suggesting
that he has the firepower to wrestle that kicking landmark
sometime soon in the future.
Dublin girl wins Kick Fada in Bray
The women's All Ireland Kick Fada in Bray Emmets last
Saturday turned into a great kicking duel with a Dublin-Meath
flavour. In the end, Clanna Gael's Serena Hannon brought the title
back to the capital with a kick of 45 metres which the holder Irene
Munnelly was unable to match on this occasion.
The women's event saw 25 participants take part which was a
record number of kickers.
