Bray Emmets under eight girls had their first away blitz in sunny Avondale on Saturday. Playing two teams in the event. There were great performances against Eire Of, Kilcoole and a strong Glenealy team. Many thanks to the parents who travelled and Yvonne for arranging sweets, goodie bags and the weather! It was a great day and thanks to Avondale for their hospitality.

Bray v Westmanstown
We hosted Westmanstown for their first trip to Bray. We had some 2008 girls to help make up two teams and Niamh and Siofra played very well. Hannah also played her first match. After a difficult week it was great to Aine playing and she was brilliant, whether it was playing for us or the opposition. I don't know what the Lambe's are having for breakfast these days but Ciara was on fire, again. We were 2-0 down and she was off injured from the other game. Siofra got a knock and had to come off and Ciara said she would go on for the last two minutes. That's all she needed to knock in two quick goals and Rosa so nearly got the winner with the last hit of the match.

|Camogie Blitz in Westmanstown with Stars of Erin|
26 September, 2015
Although we were supposed to have a bye week we arranged to join Westmanstown and Stars for a great morning of camogie. We were too string against both Westmanstowns teams but several of our players played for them which evened things up a bit. Their coaches were very complimentary towards our girls and how well some of them played for them. Ciara in particular scored 5 goals for them against Stars, which was more than they had done for all the other matches. And Annie had a great day on her first away match and even managed a couple of goals. We finished with a great match against Stars which was very even but we ran out of time and only played one half. Rematch this weekend hopefully.

|U8 Camogie Blitz- Bray|
18 July, 2015
Sat 18th July
We hosted this blitz and had 5 visiting teams. We played three matches in the blitz against Avondale, Arklow and Greystones. We had good wins against Avondale & Arklow but the best game was against Greystones which was a hard fought 0-0 draw but could easily have been a 4-4 draw. End to end and a great team effort from all the girls.
Special note to our two U7 subs of Rebecca & Siofra who both played really well, despite some knocks, and Siofra was great in goal. To our injured mascot Olivia. And to all the parents for their help with the catering.

Avondale BlitzSaturday, 4th July
We played three matches in the blitz against Avondale, Arklow and Glenealy. The girls played very well in all three games and no need to list all the scorers as just look at the team list below because they all scored and, even better, we didn't concede any. No standout player this week as the whole team played great with very good defending and good striking & passing to get the ball up to the forwards. But Olivia & Elise were particularly clinical in front of goal.

|U8 Girls Football Blitz in Baltinglass|
20 June, 2015
We played 3 matches in this Blitz against Baltinglass, St. Pats and Tinahely. We won all 3 again this week but didn't have it all our own way. We nearly let a 3-0 lead slip in the first match with some loose defending but managed to hang on. A much better performance in the 2nd match from start to finish for a comfortable win and although we let in a couple of early goals in the 3rd match the girls found their stride again and pulled away. Aisling and Aine played well but standout player was Kate Slattery. 3 very good games, lots of points and even a spell playing for Tinahely.

|U8 Camogie - Bray Emmets Vs Faughs Celtic|
14 June, 2015
Sunday 14th -10.00
This was to be a 3 club fixture but St Anne's no longer have an U8 team. So our 8 girls took on 3 Faughs teams in back-to-back matches. The first match was a good win. The second was unbelievably a draw considering our 22 shots on goal and our keeper falling asleep. But the best was last in a great match. We went 2-0 down in the first so a big team talk at half time to turn things around. We started the 2nd half and immediately went 3-0 down. But with only 5 minutes left the girls went on the attack and we got back to 3-3 with goals from Kate, Grace & Katie. Then another shot appeared to over the line but wasn't given and then Kimberly hit a great strike for the winner, but no, it wasn't given either. So it ended in a great comeback draw. But an official review after the game determined that the last shot was in, so we got the win after all!

Bray Emmets Vs Commercials & Kilmacud
Bray hosted the blitz and we had two great games against Commercials & Crokes. Both our games finished in draws but were both end to end games and very exciting. Commercials got extra skill points for their many pickup and strikes and this geed up our girls to try and we got more than Crokes in the next game. Elise and Aine had two good games but a great team effort by all the girls.

|U8 Camogie Blitz Ballinacor|
23 May, 2015
Bray Emmets Vs Avondale, Arklow & Glenealy
It was a beautiful Saturday morning for a blitz in Ballinacor's grounds in the Glenmalure valley, well worth the drive down. We were short on players but got to play 2 1/2 games. The half game was against Glenealy who struggled to get a team together so brought what appeared to be their U6 team! We won well against Avondale but came up against a very good Arklow team which we lost. But a great effort by the six girls that made the trip.

Blitz at Stars of Erin, Glencullen
After the postponement of the blitz in Arklow on Saturday it was great to play three games up in Glencullen against Stars, Roundtowers and Thomas Davies. It was a windy morning, as always, but dry.
The girls played very well from end to end and three wins from three made for a successful morning. Two clean sheets were just as satisfying as the goals scored. A super save from Lili against Stars right at the end kept them out. Ciara marshalled the midfield throughout and Aine did very well in her first blitz for us but standout player of the day was Olivia. She scored her first goal, had two goal assists and stopped two sure goals in defence.

Bray Emmets Vs Faughs
After our soaking last week we had a lovely morning in Good Counsel and played 3 matches against Faughs. Great teamwork in all matches helped us to win all 3 and was highlighted by that fact that everyone scored at least a point. But the best was saved till last when a superb end to end goal was scored with only 4 ground strikes.

U8 Camogie blitz at Commercials.Sunday 15th v Kilmacud. We finally play our first match after the postponement two weeks ago. The first U8 girls match for a few years. All the girls were up at the crack of dawn such was the excitement. We played against Kilmacud and despite two goals from Grace we lost our first game, which was a bit of a wake up call for the team. The girls showed great improvement in the the next two games and goals from Kate B, Ciara and a special goal from Orla on her first ever game helped win the next two games. A great morning in Rathcoole for our first Blitz in Dublin and we had great support from all the families. The Under 8 Camogie team played visitors Naomh Éamann, Mount Rath, County Laois, on Sat 13th Sept during our Kick Fada. The fixture was organised thanks to the enthusiasm of Dan Phelan, one of our popular, loyal Adult hurlers who is now back living in his native Laois. The game was very evenly played out, both sides showing keen forwards and sturdy defense. Tá súil againn gur bhain Naomh Éamann taitneamh as an lá a chaith siad i bPáirc Emmet Bhré. |U8 Camogie V Ballyboden|
13 October, 2013
An early Sunday morning start on 13th October in Ballyboden saw the 2005 Under-8 Camogie girls take to the pitch against the Under-9’s of Ballyboden in a Dublin League match. The girls were not overawed by the opposition and despite being a year younger, hurls, feet and bodies were bravely put into positions where lesser mortals (coaches and parents) would not dare! Roisin in goal ensured territory was gained with her long puck outs, Jessica, Sarah, Eimear, Caoimhe, Emma B defended in front of the goal with determination and great pride. Emma N, April, Julia, Aibhe contested the midfield battle with great energy and skill. Up front Alannah, Erica, Jasmine, Laura chased and fought for every ball that came their way. |Match Report: Under-8 Camogie|
21 September, 2013
On Saturday, 21st September an excited bunch of 2005 girls travelled with hurls and helmets in hand to Cuala for a Camogie match. The positive large number of girls, including some recent recruits meant that we were able to field two teams of nine, which bodes well for the future. Two games of Camogie, followed by a game of Football were played .The K team played on the middle pitch and were soon chasing the sliotár around, the girls changed positions so everyone had a chance “up front” or in “midfield” with each of them enthusiastically contributing. Caoimhe had some great puck outs from goal, April was a steady presence in the middle, with some powerful shots sending the sliotár from our defence up to attack in one strike. Sarah kept busy and Julia fought for every ball as if she would get homework passes for each one she won! Eimear, scored several goals in both Camogie and Football. One of Martha’s scores brought a huge smile to her face as well as to spectator Mum on the touchline. Jessica happily got stuck into the action be it tackling or striking the ball. A special mention must go to Cara and Erica, playing their first match as if they had been playing for years.
Our other Bray Emmets team gave an equally impressive performance with some great skill displayed and it was a very entertaining morning of football and hurling. There was great goalkeeping by Jasmine and some fine defending by Alva and Rachel, great leadership was shown by Emma N, Laura and Aoibhe in midfield and Emma B and Tara took some nice scores....
