On Saturday, 5th October, the U-14 Ladies Football Shield Final between Bray Emmets and Cumann na Mara was played on a lovely sunny morning in Greystones. The girls got off to a very good start and maintained this pace for the entire game. After a tough year in Division 1 of the Wicklow League, the team and their mentors were delighted to have reached the Shield Final. Throughout the year, the girls worked on skills, teamwork and self-belief and they certainly brought it all together on the day with every individual playing to their full capacity. The defence played exceptionally well, preventing Cumann na Mara from scoring until almost the final minute of the game. The midfield and forwards worked very well together to achieve the all-important scores. It would be impossible to single any player out for individual praise as ultimately it was the teamwork, energy and enthusiasm of the players that earned the victory. The mentors and parents are very proud of all the girls. The final score of Bray Emmets 3-5 Cumann na Mara 0-1 is testament to the great effort and hard work of every single member of the team.
