U14 County Championship

Bray Emmets have entered 2 teams in this year’s U14 county championship. The first team in the ‘A’ championship and a development team primarily for the younger players in the ‘D’ championship. Both sides made their debut last Wednesday.

Bray Emmets 5-8 St Nicholas 3-6
The ‘A’ championship team made the long journey to Dunlavin to take on Féile finalists St Nicholas. In tough windy conditions Bray Emmets played with the wind in the first half. They dominated the half and took some fine scores including two goals by midfielder Ciaran McKay. They led by eight points at half time.
The wind got even stronger in the second half and after conceding two goals early in the half Bray Emmets had a battle on their hands but the lads dug deep and scored three goals, the highlight being a Jordan Temple effort that came after the ball was won back in defence and passed through six player’s hands before Jordan dispatched his shot to the corner of the net.
Team: James Anders, Andrew O’Brien, Donnchadh Griffin-Caroll, Rory Whelan, Ben Kearney, Davey Maloney, Charley Delaney-Byrne, Ciaran McKay, Sid Hunt, Joe Phelan, Mick O’Gara, Ronan McMahon, Darragh Rochford, Andrew Conway, Jordan Temple, Cian Lohan, MacDara ó Midheach, Tony Jackson, Lochlann Megannety.
Bray Emmets 7-8 Kilbride/Lacken 2-1
The ‘D’ championship team made up of U12 and U13 players enjoyed a successful debut in Old Conna. They played some fine attacking football against a physically bigger team.
The backs were anchored by a great performance from Sam Kearney. Josh Pyper’s speed helped him dominate the midfield area with Gavin Henderson while David Nesbitt and Gavin Rochford took their goal scoring opportunities with confidence.
This team has a great chance of going the whole way in this competition.
Team: Aaron O’Rourke, Stephen Reynolds, Conor Hardiman, Michael Timmons, Andrew Croker, Sam Kearney, Gavin Henderson, Josh Pyper, David Nesbitt, Rory Lambe, Sean McDonagh, Gavin Rochford, David Martin.
