U12 Footballers face Eire Óg

8 April, 2013

The Under-12 Footballers faced Eire Óg Greystones in their opening game of the 2013 season, fielding two teams of equal strength. In the first encounter, Brian Lambe's Bray met a fluid and capable Eire Óg outfit. The opposition dominated the early exchanges despite the best efforts of the brave Sebastian Coleman and the energy of David Martin up front. In the second-half, the game settled somewhat, with Donal Spaine and Darragh McCormack finding the net for the seasiders, and Jack Treacy and Conor Hardiman working tenaciously until the final whistle sounded.
The Bray Emmets team on Pitch 2, managed on the night by Brendan Collins, were playing against a strong breeze in the first half. Bray struggled against a bigger Eire Óg team. The defence was under a lot of pressure where Philip Jakob and Brian Nesbitt coped really well. With a couple of positional changes Bray improved. Gavin Henderson and Josh Pyper strengthened the defence and Rory Whelan and Charlie Dunne got a grip on midfield. Better ball was played into the forward line where David Nesbitt and Aodhan Daly were playing well. The second half started very well for Bray. They were first to the ball all over the pitch and started to dominate. The defence was well on top where Stephen Reynolds and James Coffey were working hard. Zack Collins, in goals, made some tremendous saves to keep Bray in the game. The forwards looked very dangerous with Jamie Baguley, David Nesbitt and Aaron O'Rourke causing all sorts of problems for the Eire Óg defence. The result was in doubt right to the very end until Eire Óg scored some excellent points to condemn Bray to defeat. All the players deserve great credit for the effort put in especially in the second half.
