Cuala 4-0 V Bray Emmet's 1-0

White Team

Ryan Hannon, Ben Hoskin, Aaron Lyons, Luke Steele, Kevin Spain, Kevin Nolan, Ryan Purdy, Cian Rowe.

This was a very competitive game played by two very sporting teams. Bray Emmet's had excellent performances from Kevin Spain, Ryan Purdy and Kevin Nolan in the middle of the pitch and stout defending from Ben Hoskin and Aaron Lyons - Up front Bray had Cian Rowe and Luke Steele who were unlucky to see good efforts go wide after some excellent work from Kevin Spain and Ryan Purdy all the way through the game.

Cuala were the slightly better side on the day and their air hurling is what won the game for them, when direct from frees they scored their four goals, one in the first half and three in the second half, Bray did battle on and were rewarded with a consolation goal near the end, but there is huge improvement from the Bray Boys and they can look forward to the league with some optimism which starts in a few weeks.

Green Team

Stephen Finn, Evan Sweeney, Conan O'Duill, Oisin Dougan, Owen Duffy, Fintan O'Shea, Mark Kenny, Conn Benville

Bray Emmets 3.3 Cuala 2.2

This was the proverbial game of two halves. Our lads seemed to be very sluggish in the opening have and allowed Cuala into a 2.2 to 0.0 half time score. Our clearances from defence were weak and our attack had no bite in it at all in the first half.

However the second half was a complete change around. We settled when Oisin Dougan scored a skill point for a clean high catch and Owen Duffy scored a '65. Strong puckouts from Fintan O'Shea kept Cuala on the backfoot. Conan O'Duill has extremely industrious at half forward and pressurised Cuala into half clearances. With another skill point from Oisin followed by a lovely drilled goal on the run from Owen we were closing the gap rapidly.

Our defence of Evan Sweeney and Mark Kenny and Stephen Finn at half back were rock solid. Cuala's only opportunities in the 2nd half were two '65s each of which was commandingly dealt with by Fintan O'Shea. Bray's midfield was now dominant and with 5 minutes remaining Bray dropped a ball into the Cuala square and Conn Benville forced it over the line. With a narrow lead we attacked again in the final minute and the ball was driven in low and hard from the corner flag, it was parried by the goalkeeper but the poaching skills of Conn Benville were again on hand to block it down and into the net.

By popular choice from our travelling supporters the man of the match awards today went to Kevin Nolan on the white team and Owen Duffy on the green team
